Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says he is feeling better after returning home from Cuba following a second round of chemotherapy.
"I'm doing very well. In fact, I've never been better," he said outside the presidential palace in Caracas.
Mr Chavez has been receiving cancer treatment, after having had a tumour removed from his pelvic area in Cuba in June.
The exact nature of his cancer has not been disclosed.
Mr Chavez said he was in good spirits after his week-long visit to Cuba, saying the cancer had not spread.
The 57-year-old admitted the treatment had taken a toll on him, leaving him "areas of weakness".
The left-wing leader, who returned from Cuba at the weekend, had a first round of chemotherapy there in July. He said he did not yet know whether he will need a third.
There has been speculation that the president, in office since 1999, will not be well enough to contest the presidential election in December 2012.
But addressing crowds last month, Mr Chavez declared that he was still aiming for victory.
